Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Ambassadors Want the Buzz Back

Celebrating National Volunteer Week

Founding Member of Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Ambassadors Wants The Buzz Of Cruise Visitors To Return

This week is National Volunteer Week and Tourism Whitsundays is celebrating the amazing contribution made by the Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Ambassadors for welcoming cruise ship visitors to the Whitsundays.

Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Ambassadors was formed in 2012 by Jan Clifford, who at the time worked for Whitsunday Transit. Jan saw the need to welcome cruise visitors to the Whitsundays with local knowledge and enthusiasm which is exactly what Cruise Ship Ambassadors do.

Jan said, "The cruise ship industry is very important to Airlie Beach. It supports local businesses and gives tourists a taste of what the Whitsundays offers for a longer stay."

Cruise ship visitors have a positive impact on the local economy, spending money on tours, food, beverages and shopping.

"Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Ambassadors provide a welcoming and friendly face to cruise ship visitors. We provide information about local attractions, tours and activities. We also help visitors find their way around Airlie Beach," said Jan.

Cruise Ship Ambassadors are all volunteers who give their time to welcome cruise ship visitors to the Whitsundays.

"We are a friendly bunch of people who love to help visitors make the most of their time in Airlie Beach," said Jan.

In addition to welcoming cruise ship visitors, Cruise Ship Ambassadors also participate in community events and activities, providing support to local businesses and organizations.
